Accessing GP services in the evening and at weekends
GPs in Havering have opened two late night and weekend practices to make it even easier for local people to get urgent, same day appointments with a family doctor.
Patients can call the service directly on 020 3770 1888 to book an appointment from 2pm to 9pm, Monday to Friday, and from 9am to 3pm, Saturday and Sunday. Alternatively they can be booked in through their own GP or via NHS111.
Appointments are available from:
Monday to Friday: 6.30pm to 10pm
Saturday: 12pm to5pm
Sunday: 12pm to 4pm HubSites:
At the follwoing surgeries:
North Street MedicalCare, 274 North Street, Romford, RM1 4QJ
Rosewood Medical Practice, 30 Astra Close, Hornchurch, RM125NJ
Visits to Accident and Emergency in Havering's hospitals are among the highest in the country and patients are being urged to take advantage of this new extended evening and weekend service instead. As many as 50 per cent of visits to A & E could be managed by family doctors or even pharmacies.
Pharmacists offer a good alternative service. They give expert, confidential advice and treatment for common ailments such as coughs, colds and rashes and can provide emergency contraception too. They may also be able to provide a small supply of repeat medicines if you run out of medication when the surgery is closed.
